Avatar

As we all know, the movie Avatar was a huge success. It was the highest grossing movie ever to hit theatres. Now movie producers are taking advantage of the 3D technology. Before 3D movies were novelties, every once in a while a movie would come out and it would so happen to be in 3D. Now in the past few weeks it's becoming more and more apparent that every movie that comes onto the silver screen is in 3D. Now some movies this fits, as in Avatar. Movies the 3D was made for, and the story line sucks, then it's good to use it. But now we get movies like Alice in Wonderland, and Clash of the Titans, where last minute the producers after filming were like, "Hey, Avatar did well in 3D; let's make this 3D even though it will be totally pointless!"

I am sick of it, it's getting to the point that I agree with online piracy of movies. I mean let's face it, look in the theatres right now, and I will bet you anything that at least two movies that don't need to be in 3D. Take this September for example, Resident Evil 4 will be hitting the big screens, every Resident Evil movie so far has done absolutely fine in normal 2D movies, now they want to introduce 3D to it! What they need to do if they want to make a movie pop out is FILM IT IN 3D!!! The movies that are being released right now that are not meant for 3D aren't even filmed for it! So when you watch it, you don't see the entire body of the person you only see the top half, and it looks stupid to see only the top half of a body popping out of a screen.

Now to be fair to the producers it is a good way to make back money. Theatres charge about 50% more for a ticket to see a 3D movie than a regular 2D movie. And then we have the pot heads that think it would be amazing to watch a movie that's in 3D, high as a kite. So there is defiantly ticket sales going on, but I don't think that in anytime soon are we going to see a movie as much as a success as Avatar for 3D movies.

Tell me what you think. Do you agree with the new market for 3D movies, or do you think most movies should stay the same to normal 2D and every once in a while, maybe once a year 3D movie?

Cheers!

Hey dan! i never knew you had a blog! ..i get excited for these things.

Anyway,
I agree. The new market with 3D is stupid. Obviously if they make ALL movies in 3D, people pay more for their movie ticket, and the industry gets more money. And we have no way getting out of it. I do think 3D does make the movie experience much cooler, especially with actions, sci-fi, and horrors. But to an extent where Jonas Brothers in 3D? or Step up, and Jackass? It's unnecessary. Not to mention, people have been complaining that 3D has made their movie experience worst because it's making them feel sick with headaches and nausea. I'm sick of it too. If I see any romance or romance comedy in 3D.. you know its just going overboard lol.
